The planned Critical Mass protest took place Friday, July 30, 2010 in downtown Vancouver BC, Canada with thousands of bicyclists, skaters and bladers causing massive traffic jams and disruptions, all in an effort to promote bike usage and the construction of bike lanes. 

The protest takes place in major cities around the world on the last Friday of each month. Police tried to maintain a measure of control over the protest however traffic blocking, controlling intersections, riding without helmets and other traffic offences took place without fines being issued.
